04.21.10This past weekend Mane Top showed at Randolph College on Saturday and Sunday with both days being a major SUCCESS!!
Saturday was the Bedford Hunt Horse Show. We started off in the Green Hunter Division first thing in the morning with Kristen on Mane Top’s Theodore, Codi on Beverly Russle’s horse Better Than Red and Jenny Melton’s horse Bon Jovi, as well as Lexi on her new fantastic lease, Family Guy, owned by Meredith Newman. All were fantastic getting great ribbons in every class. Lexi was Reserve Champion winning one of her over fences classes! Great job!
Later in the day Maggie rode her horse Three Sox in the Children’s Hunter Division and was 1st and 2nd over fences and 3rd on the flat to win the Championship ribbon as well as a 2nd in the Equitation on the Flat! Couldn’t get any sweeter than that. Her sister Burke rode Mane Top’s Silver Slippers in the Large Pony Hunters winning 5ths over fences, a 4th on the flat, and a 3rd in the Pony Medal. Way to go Burke!
Mackenzie and her pony Remmington Steele won both S/M Pony Hunter over fences classes and was 3rd on the flat winning Champion of the division! Mane Top’s Dixie Charm with rider Megan McMahon won 2nd place in both over fences classes and were 2nd on the flat to win the Reserve Champion ribbon! Mackenzie Parks helped us out for the ride on Miss Charlotte in the mediums and was 3rd in both over fences and won the flat! Way to go girls.
Jean Krason into debuted in the Adult Equitation on the Flat on their horse Megas Black Gold. Jean and BG did a great job and we can’t wait for their future show career!
With Saturday a success we moved onto show on Sunday in the Blue Ridge Horse Force Show. Another FABULOUS show day! Reilly Krason rode Remmington Steele in the Beginner Rider Equitation Division winning 6th in the walk/trot, 1st in the walk/trot/canter, and 2nd over fences, GO REILLY! Casey showed Maple Leaf’s Opulence (May) in the Beginner Rider Equitation and was awesome! Rick Krason showed Megas Black Gold on Sunday in the Pleasure Hunter’s and ROCKED! Everyone better watch out for this up and coming duo
Looking forward to Lexington Spring Premier!
Sweet Briar Horse Show Updates!
04.12.10Kristen, Codi, and a few other Mane Top students spent a lot of time at Sweet Briar this past week. Kristen and Codi hauled Bernie and Theo over to get a lesson with Jason Berry on Wednesday. For those of you who don’t know Jason you can check out his website at JasonBerryStables.com. He is a professional in the SWVHJA area but shows up and down the East Coast riding for other top horse owners and barns including Olin Armstrong andKennith Wheeler as well as training for Sweet Briar College. We befriended Jason and his wife Alisa at the horse shows and have been very excited to work more with Jason. Now that they are so close to Mane Top we will be taking as many lessons as possible!
On Friday we returned with Bernie, Theo, Sox, Buddy, JJ, andDiamond for a jumping lesson from Jason before the show. The first group included Codi on JJ, Maggie on Sox, Lexi on Buddy, andJordan on Diamond. Everyone was fantastic and we all learned A TON in just a short amount of time. Then we moved on to Codi on Bernie andKristen on Theo. For those of you who know know we bought Theo from Jason when Theo wouldn’t even think about jumping a pole on the ground and with lots of time, energy, andbonding, Kristen can successfully jump Theo around a course of scary jumps and was excited to show Jason the progress. Bernie and Codi learned so much and we are all excited to put our new riding tools to use.
Saturday brought horse showing in the Green Hunters for Codi and JJ, Kristen and Theo, and Lexi and Buddy. Everyone was AWESOME! JJ was the best he has ever been and we are so close to him being the champion that he is, Theo was so brave and caught plenty of attention, and Lexi and Buddy were the STARS! Out of a huge class, against professionals, Lexi and Buddy chilled out, got brave, and kicked butt! They were 4th and 5th over fences and 6th in the flat. Way to go!
Later in the day after Maggie had a few “ah-ha” moments with Jason, she rode Sox in the Children’s Hunter Division winning a 1st and 2nd over fence, a 2nd on the flat, and CHAMPION! What an awesome finish to the day. Great job Maggie.
Sunday brought the jumpers with Jordan and her mare Diamond. They used some of their new tools from our lesson and jumped around so soft and quiet for the first time in a while! We are looking forward to future jumper shows with this pair. What a blast.
Thanks to Linda for bringing along our wonderful working students in training, Jenny, Megan, and Casey. Everyone was great help andI think it’s safe to say we all had so much fun. Let’s do it again this weekend at Randolph!
April Fun Festival Horse Show- SUCCESS!
04.06.10Mane Top Stables held their last show of their Winter Fun Festival Series sponsored by The Animal Hospital of Lynchburg, this past Saturday, April 3rd. With all the snow the winter festival became a Winter/Spring Festival but even so the weather was perfect!
We had multiple trailers parked out in the field, our judge, Alisa Berry, under her scary blue tent, sat on top of the hill overlooking our awesome courses, thanks Kristen! All of Mane Top’s horses and ponies were perfectly behaved and the show ran as smoothly as possible. We had entries in almost every class/division, the food was awesome, thanks Lambert’s, and thanks to Yvonne McMahon we had milkshakes as a special treat!
We had pony rides, hay rides, a raffle of various items thanks to Harris Tire, Accutemp, The Animal Hospital of Lynchburg, and Y-Nots by Linda Melton, and we can’t forget our fabulous EASTER EGG HUNT! Kristen’s Aunt, Uncle, and cousins were in town to visit their mare, Laura, who is in foal with Mane Top’s baby by Paparazzo, due in July :) Thanks to them, all of the 400 eggs we stuffed with CANDY and MONEY were hidden all around the farm.
The hunt was a successs with big kids and little kids searching around the farm, everyone had a blast. What a success! Thanks to all who supported Mane Top’s Fun Festival!
We hope those of you who trailered in will join us for our future shows!
WE WILL POST OUR NEXT SHOW DATES ON OUR CALENDAR SOON

04.01.10This weekend was a big one for Mane Top. There were 2 SWVHJA shows offering different classes at each. Kristen took Maggie and Sox and Burke and Slippers to Bridgewater while Codi stayed back and took Karema and Connor to Sweet Briar for jumpers on Sunday.
Both shows went well! Burke and Slippers make the most lovely pair and we were so excited for them. They were excellent in the Large Pony Hunter’s on Sat. winning Reserve Champion with a first and 2 seconds! Congratulations Burke! Maggie rode on Sunday in the Equitation on the flat and the Children’s Hunter Division. Sox had a rather exciting show day and Maggie had to learn how to ride through a few tough spots. Good job Maggie. Karema showed on Sun. at Sweet Briar in the Low Jumpers and Schooling Jumpers. Connor impressed us all with his awesome jumping style and Karema rode around her first jumper courses extremely well. They won 2 of their classes! Way to go Karema!
Thanks to the Krason’s for getting us to Sweet Briar on Sunday:) And thanks to Amy Howard for making Karema and Connor possible and to Megan for coming to support and help Mane Top at SBC.
CONGRATULATIONS BURKE! She is now leasing Mane Top’s Silver Slippers and we are more than excited for her!
