06.27.10

Lindy perfectMeet our fabulous baby, Mane Top’s  Turn It Up “Lindy”.  She was born early Thursday morning at Mountain View Equine Hospital where  her mom wass staying during her last few weeks of pregnancy. We weren’t taking any chances with this baby! Lindy head

More pictures of Lindy and Laura! - Thanks to the Ackerson family!

Lindy’s mother, Laura, was imported by Bob Crandall for Jan Seweall so she could use her to compete in the Adult hunters. Laura also showed successfully in the USEF Working Hunter Divisions. After an injury in the field Laura could no longer perform at those heights. Jan’s good friend Cindy Wilkes, owner of On T he Bit Farm, bred Laura to her famous Hunter/Jumper stallion, Paparazzo. Check this guy out…

Paparazzo
1995 Bay 16.3 Elite Hanoverian
Pablo – Debütant – Raffael

Paparazzo was a winner at the 2003 C.S.I. International Grand Prix jumping competition in the Youngster Grand Prix Tour (7 & 8 year-olds) in Germany. He also has 10 other career wins in national competition (4 to 5 feet). Paparazzo has fabulous hunter movement, “picture perfect” jumping style and an exceptional disposition.

After the last foal was born Cindy bred Laura back to Paparazzo. Jan decided it was time to find a new show horse and made the tough decision to sell Laura and the Paparazzo baby inside her. Luckily enough Kristen saw Laura’s ad in the Chronicle of the Horse magazine and we couldn’t believe we had found her. After talking to Jan we all knew we were going to figure out how to get this horse to Mane Top. Jan loved the idea of Laura being our breakthrough broodmare, giving us the chance to establish our breeding program and having a life long home. We wouldn’t have Laura or Lindy if Kristen’s uncle Jay hadn’t expressed interest in being a part of this breeding adventure. Jay and his entire family loved the idea and helped Mane Top’s dream of owning Laura come true.

We will have plenty more pictures to share soon. Come by and visit our new addition! We are looking forward to Lindy’s future at Mane Top Stables…

Roanoke Valley Horse Show

06.27.10

We had a fabulous week at Roanoke Valley Horse Show. We started out with the local ponies with Remington Steele and Mackenzie Krason competing in the Small/Medium Pony Hunters. She was great! 4th in the second over fences class and 4th on the flat. Then she was 2nd in the SWVHJA Pony Medal!

Silver Slippers and Burke Kelleher showed in they Local Large Pony Hunter division getting some great ribbons against good competition. She was 2nd and 3rd over fences and 3rd on the flat. Burke WON the SWVHJA Pony Medal! Mane Top riders taking the first and second place in the medal classes is so exciting!

Then we moved on to the jumper ring with Amy Amerell’s horse, My Girl Lass, with Jordan Josefczyk up for the ride. They were AWESOME! Lass can really jump! This was her first time showing at the 3ft. She did the Low Jumpers and the High Training Level Jumpers. She WON 3 blues! Very exciting.

Mackenzie and Remy showed again at the end of the week in their first rated division as a team! Kenzie won 3rd place in her second over fences course and 3rd on the flat. Way to go!

It was a long week but all of Mane Top’s students rode extremely well and we are proud of  each of you. Lets do it again at House Mountain this week!

DixieDixie is the sweetest pony in the barn. She is an A-rated quality pony but also loves to carry the baby beginners around the ring. This 8y.o. welsh cross has a 10 jump no matter what distance, rider, or size jump you put in front  of her. Dixie has a huge stride, a fabulous trot, and good changes.

She is currently being used for beginner through advanced lessons and showing on the SWVHJA circuit in the Medium Pony Hunters. This mare is ready to be finished into a winning rated pony hunter.  She has done everything from pony rides to birthday parties and loves her 4 y.o. boy who can walk and trot her around the ring with no help.
